  • Intellectual property refers to the property created and owned by an person through the virtue of human intellect. Intellectual property rights shall include patents, trade marks, copy rights, trade secrets and other species such as computer software or printed material, any new and useful process, machine, composition of matter, life form, article of manufacture, software , copyrighted work, such things as new or improved devices, circuits, chemical compounds, drugs, genetically engineered biological organisms, data sets, software , musical processes, or unique and innovative uses of existing inventions.

IPR Cell

An IPR cell in a university plays a crucial role in protecting and promoting intellectual property, fostering innovation, and establishing a strong connection between academia and industry. It benefits not only the university but also its students, faculty, and the wider community by contributing to economic growth and the advancement of knowledge and technology. The IPR cell of the University aims to create awareness on IPR among the students and faculty of our affiliated Institution.

Objectives of IPR Cell

  • To create awareness and educate on Intellectual property rights (IPR) among faculty and students of the college.
  • To advice and guide faculty and students on the importance of IPR.
  • To conduct workshops, activities and training programs on IPR.
  • To provide guidelines on applicable laws and regulations regarding IPR.

In the Governing council meeting held on 07.01.2014, it was resolved to waive the processing fee of Rs.3000/- for Ph.D. Guides and Rs.2000/- for Ph.D. Co-Guide with prospective effect.

Attention to Ph.D. Nursing Candidates of JULY 2012

  • As per the ‘REGULATIONS FOR THE DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY Ph.D. -2010-‘ “MEDICAL DOCTORS SHOULD NOT BE A GUIDE FOR Ph.D. CANDIDATES, WHO INTEND TO DO THEIR Ph.D. RESEARCH PROGRAMME IN THE FACULTY OF ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES.”
  • The Ph.D. Candidates who belong to Nursing Speciality and selected Doctors as their Guides for July 2012 session are instructed to change their Guides immediately to their own speciality and will be permitted for Screening Committee only on production of speciality Guide consent.

Attention to the July 2012 Session Not Approved Ph.D. Candidates

  • January 2013 session of Screening Committee for Ph.D. proposal is to be conducted during the I week of February. Hence, the July 2012 session NOT APPROVED Ph.D. candidates are instructed to submit their Compliance Report through their Guide on or before 25.01.2013.

Attention to July 2012 session Ph.D. Candidates

  • From JULY 2012 session onwards, GUIDES SHOULD NOT ATTEND THE SCREENING COMMITTEE MEETING.
  • From JULY 2012 session onwards, MARKS WILL BE AWARDED FOR ORAL PRESENTATION.
  • A total of 150 MARKS is FIXED FOR ORAL PRESENTATION. 50 Mark is allocated to each Screening Committee member and minimum 50% of Mark is mandatory for Pass. (i.e.) 75/150 TO GET APPROVAL FOR PROVISIONAL REGISTRATION for Ph.D. in the Screening Committee.
  • Based on AGGREGATE MARKS OF 50% OBTAINED BY THE CANDIDATE, the Summary of the Research will be taken into consideration for approval.
  • The Results of the Provisionally selected candidates for Ph.D. will be Published in the Website from JULY 2012 session onwards.

Eligibility to apply for Registration as a D.Sc. Candidate

  • The candidates who possess not less than 2 years of research experience after acquiring ph.d are only eligible to apply for registration as a d.sc. Candidate in this University.

  • Candidates applying for Ph.D. Provisional Registration in this University should obtain Eligibility Certificate from the University from July 2012 Session onwards.
  • The request from candidates who submit their proposals without Eligibility Certificate will be summarily Rejected.

  • Request of Government Siddha Medical College, Chennai to Declare as Ph.D. Centre
  • The Commissioner of Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy has requested to declare Govt. Siddha Medical College, Chennai as a Ph.D. Centre. It was resolved that the institution which come under the MOU with the University shall apply for Department recognition for Ph.D. Programme with recognition fee but without the inspection fee. All institutions which do not come within the MOU should apply as per Ph.D. regulations of this University.
