About Us
The Department of Transfusion Medicine (DTM) was established in The Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University with Licensed Blood centre on 16th August 2001 with assistance from the Government of Tamilnadu. The Government of Tamil Nadu accorded sanction in 1997 for conducting M.D. Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion course under The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University through a tie-up programme with Kilpauk Medical College*, Government Roya pettah Hospital and the King Institute, Guindy.
Subsequently, the Department of Transfusion Medicine at the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University commenced the M.D. (Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion) course in 2005, in accordance with the NMC/MCI Postgraduate Regulations, 2000, with an annual intake of two (2) seats. Currently, following an increase in seats, the course is recognized by the NMC/MCI for an annual intake of five (5) seats.
