So far thirteen batches of “Research Methodology and Biostatistics” Workshop for AYUSH Post- Graduates and Researchers were conducted since 2010 and totally 665 Post – Graduates of Siddha and Homeopathy have been benefited so for.

Annual Report
- The Department of Siddha of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University has been started from November 2007 onwards. The main objective to start the Department in this University is to standardize the Siddha drugs, Clinical Research in the field of Siddha and to provide Quality Education and Research. The Department is marching forward towards the goals.
Drug Standardization Laboratory
- A state -of- art Drug Standardization Laboratory is established at the University premises. This is the only laboratory among the affiliated Ayush Institutions. This Laboratory will fulfill the needs of the affiliated Institutions for their Drug Standardization. Post -Graduate students and Researchers can utilize the facilities of the laboratory.
- There are five ongoing projects on standardization of Siddha drugs at this Drug Standardization Laboratory.
Siddha Out –patient Department
- A Siddha outpatient department has been started at the University premises on 21-02-2014.The Honourable Health Minister of Tamilnadu and the Worhsipful Mayor of Corporation of Chennai inaugurated the Siddha OPD. The Secretary to Govt., Health and Family Welfare Department and Commissioner of Indian Medicine and Homeopathy felicitated the function.
- The free medicine kit is supplied by the Commissionerate of Indian Medicineand Homoeopathy. A request has been given to the Health secretary to consider this as a Siddha outpost and necessary medicine supply in future also. The OPD is functioning on all working days of the University between 10am to 1pm(except Government Holidays).
Department Library
- 399 Books on various titles are available in the Department library for reference.
Ph.D. Programme
- The Department of Siddha is recognized for conducting Ph.D programme from the academic year 2008 – 2009 in the faculty of Siddha under this University.
- Five faculties of this Department have registered for part-time Ph.D programme.
- Two candidates from other institutes have been registered in this Department under the Faculty of Siddha and undergoing the PhD programme.
- So for seven candidates have been registered for Ph.D degree at the Department of Siddha.
Ph.D Thesis Submitted
- Dr.K.Rajalaskhmi completed part-time PhD programme and the thesis on Standardisation and clinical Evaluation of Siddha formulations for Urolithiasis has been submitted during December 2013.
Conferences Attended
- Dr. K. Rajalakshmi attended an international conference on Siddha medicine held at Kolalambur Malaysia organized by ministry of health,Traditional medicine division Malaysia on 11th and 12 November 2013.

- Dr. G.Bharathkumar attended a CME on “Gunapadam” at National Institute of Siddha, Tambaram Sanatorium, Chennai-47 from 08.04.2013 to 13.04.2013.
- Dr. K. Rajalakshmi and Dr.N.Kabilan attended a CME on “Research Methodology and Statistical Design on Clinical Trails based on Holistic Management” at National Institute of Siddha, , Tambaram Sanatorium, Chennai-47 from 17.06.2013 to 22.06.2013.
- Dr. K. S. Uma and Dr.N.Kabilan attended the “National Scientific Workshop on Management of Non Communicable Diseases in Siddha system” held on 1-10-2013 Organized by National Institute of Siddha, Tambaram Sanitorium ,chennai-47.
Conferences - Paper Presented
- Dr. K. Rajalakshmi – presented a paper on “Management of Urolithiasis through Siddha medicine” at the international conference on Siddha medicine Kolalambur Malaysia on 11th and 12th November 2013.
- Dr. K. Rajalakshmi – presented a paper on “The efficacy of Sindhuvallathy mezhugu and Kalladaippu Kudineer on Kalladaippu / Urolithiasis” at The Siddha Central Research Institute,Arumbakkam, Chennai on 22nd March 2014.

- Dr. K. Rajalakshmi attended a workshop as invited speaker on life style disorders conducted by Siddha Central Research Institute, Arumbakkam on 22nd and 23rd March 2014.
- Dr. N.Kabilan – Served as a Resource person on 10-04-2013 at the CME on Gunapadam from 08-04-2013 to 13-04-2013 at the National Institute of Siddha,Chennai-47 and delivered the lecture on Gunapadam- Research Perceptive.

On Going Projects
- Dr.K.Rajalaskhmi received research grant from UGC MINOR project dated 30-7-2012 entitled “Standardization and clinical evaluation of Siddha formulation for Urolithiasis”. First year work has been completed and the utility certificate, the project report is already sent to the UGC. (ongoing)
- Dr.K.Rajalaskhmi received research grant from the University research council for the project “ Analytical and pharmacognostical standardization of Siddha formulation used for urolithiasis”. The work has been completed.
- Dr.K.Rajalaskhmi received research grant from University finance committee approved project on “ Screening of anti-microbial activity of Siddha formulations used for respiratory and gastro- intestinal disorders”. The project is ongoing.
