Drug Standardization Laboratory
- A state -of- art Drug Standardization Laboratory is established at the University premises. This will be the first of its kind laboratory among the affiliated Ayush Institutions. This Laboratory will fulfill the needs of the affiliated Institutions for their Drug Standardization. Post -Graduate students and Researchers can utilize these laboratory facilities.
- Drug Standardization Laboratory was inaugurated by our Vice -Chancellor Dr. Mayilvahanan Natrajan, M.S.Orth., M.Ch.Orth (L’pool), Ph.D., D.Sc. F.R.C.S. (Eng.), D.Sc. (Hon.)3, on 24.11.2011 in presence of Dr. K. Manickavasagam, MD(S) Director, National Institute of Siddha, Chennai-47.
Continuous Medical Education (CME) Programs
- To update the knowledge of the Students, Faculty and the Researchers of Ayush, Continuous Medical Education (CME) programs are conducted from October 2010.
- The Department of Siddha so far has conducted four Siddha CME programs in the University Campus during the Academic Year 2010-2011
- 151 Under Graduate & Post Graduate students and Faculties of Siddha Medical Colleges affiliated to this University have participated in the Fifth Siddha CME on 18.07.2011.The topic is “Evaluation of Anti- Oxidants properties in Kaya karpa Herbs” by Samson Jamesdaniel, M.D., Ph.D. Research Assistant Professor Communicative Disorders and Sciences, The State University of New York Buffalo, NY – 14214.
- Sixth Siddha CME on 08.12.2011 was attended by 116 Under Graduate & Post Graduate students and Faculties of Siddha Medical Colleges affiliated to this University.The topic is “Standardization of ASU Drugs” by Dr. Ariamuthu Saraswathy, Director, Captain Srinivasa Murti Drug Research Institute for Ayurveda (CSMDRIA), Arumbakkam, Chennai – 600 106.
- Certificate of Participation with credit points was issued to the participants of CME programs which were conducted so for in the Department of Siddha. Accreditation and Credit points for the CME programs had been awarded by Centre for CME Accreditation, The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University

- 399 Books on various titles are available in the Department library for reference.
Ph.D. Programme
- The Department of Siddha is recognized for conducting Ph.D programme from the academic year 2008 – 2009 under this University. The Department of Siddha is the first of its kind offering Ph.D degree in the Faculty of Siddha.
- Five candidates have applied for provisional registration and Four candidates have been registered.
- The University has permitted the External Candidates also to register for PhD in this Department for doing their Research under the Recognized Guide.

- Dr. G. Bharathkumar attended the ROTP on “Noi Nadal” from 18.04.2011 to 23.04.2011 at National Institute of Siddha, Tambaram Sanatorium, Chennai-47.
- Dr. E.M. Manikgantan and Dr. K.S. Uma attended the ROTP on “Noi Nadal” from 11.07.2011 to 16.07.2011 at GovernmentSiddhaMedicalCollege, Palayamcottai.
- Dr. G. Bharathkumar attended the ROTP on “Nanju Nool” from 25.07.2011 to 30.07.2011 at National Institute of Siddha, Tambaram Sanatorium,Chennai-47
- Dr. K. Rajalakshmi and Dr. G. Bharathkumar attended the Workshop on ” Manuscriptology” from 14.11.2011 to 16.11.2011 at Siddha Central Research Institute Chennai.
- Dr. N. Kabilan, Dr. K.S. Uma & Dr. G. Bharathkumar attended the Seminar on “Conservation and Pharmacological Action of Indian Medicinal Plants” at Sri Sai Ram Siddha medical college, Chennai-44 on 22.12.2012.
- Dr. K. Rajalakshmi attended the National Workshop on “Kalladaippu(Urolithiasis) and its management in Siddha” at Siddha Regional Research Institute, Pudhucherry on 05.03.2012 and 06.03.2012.

MoU with Prominent Institutions
- MoU with National Institute of Siddha (NIS) was signed on 21-7-2010. Based on this MoU the Director , has given permission to utilize Hospital and Laboratory facility for the Siddha Ph.D candidates of this University.
- The University Siddha Faculties attend the regular Out Patient Department according to the Tabular column below from 06.07.2011 from 08.00 AM to 12.00 PM. Then came to the University from 01.30 PM to do the University Regular work

Deputation duty
- Dr. E.M. Manikgantan & Dr. K. Rajalakshmi were deputed as Deputy Controller of Examinations from 30.09.2010 to till date
- Dr. K.S. Uma & Dr. G. Bharth Kumar were deputed to assist the Controller of Examinations from February 2012 to till date.
- Dr. N. Kabilan had Fully additional charge as Head of the Department of Epidemiology from 31.12.2010 to 06.02.2012.
- Dr. N. Kabilan were deputed to coordinate Course i/c,Allied Health sciences from 13.02.2012 to till date.
Celebrations -2012
- Dr. N. Kabilan was one of the Officers in charge for conducting the Dentist Day-2012 on 06.03.2012.
- The Department Faculties were fully engaged for the Ayush Day Celebrations – 2012
Proposal Submitted
- Dr. K. Rajalakshmi submitted the proposal on “Standardisation and Pharmacognostical evaluation of Siddha formulations used in Urolithiasis” to University Research Council for Research grant for the academic year 2011-2012 and got the Grant of Rs.50,000/-
