With improved efficiency and better analytics, the restaurant gained agility in managing its menu and pricing strategies.<\/p>\n<h2>Complexity in menu management<\/h2>\n<p>This restaurant chain faced significant inefficiencies in managing menu items across multiple locations. The process relied on Excel-based workflows that require business users to manually enter data into spreadsheets, which the IT team then re-enters into the POS system. This cumbersome approach restricted the frequency of menu updates, making it challenging to introduce pricing changes and new items efficiently.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the inefficiencies in menu updates, the lack of a structured system led to data fragmentation. Each menu change created a new menu item, flooding the POS system with multiple versions of the same item. Business users now initiate menu additions and modifications using a form-based template that enforces consistency across all attributes, including pricing, portion sizes, allergens, and calorie counts. These requests go through an automated approval process, eliminating ad-hoc approvals and reducing errors. The system then assigns a unique identifier to each approved item, ensuring accurate sales tracking and preventing duplication.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond standardization, the system also allows dynamic price changes across menus, enabling the restaurant chain to update pricing without manual intervention. It also facilitates promotion setup, allowing specific menu items and bundled meals to go live automatically across restaurant locations. After an automatic system update, administrators log the assigned item into the MIM portal, reducing manual errors and ensuring consistency across locations.<\/p>\n<p>The MIM portal also introduced governance and security controls through Azure AD-based role-based access control (RBAC). This ensured that only authorized users could create, approve, or track menu items, improving data integrity and compliance. The portal also allowed for configurable attributes, enabling different metadata structures for food, liquor, and promotional items without system modifications.<\/p>\n<p>By creating the MIM, Wavicle has remodeled menu management into an efficient, controlled, and fully standardized system. The restaurant chain now benefits from a centralized system that ensures uniformity, reduces manual effort, and accelerates menu updates across all locations.<\/p>\n<h2>Efficient and scalable menu management system<\/h2>\n<p>With Wavicle\u2019s new MIM portal, the restaurant chain transitioned from a manual, error-prone process to an automated, structured system. Menu item creation, which previously took hours, can now be done in less than two minutes.<\/p>\n<p>The standardized form-based templates eliminated formatting errors, and automation significantly reduced the lead time for menu updates.
